Officer Race and Police-Involved Homicides of Black Citizens Figure 1 plots the predicted counts from the model using 2014 Mapping Police Violence data (see table 3, first column), and those from the model using 2015 Washington Post data are plotted in figure 2 (see table 3, second column). In the first case (figure 1), the relationship is positive until the inflection point of approximately 35 percent, at which point additional black officers begin to decrease the number of black citizens killed by police. However, despite the shape of the relationship, the confidence interval is wide enough that it is impossible to say that the predicted counts are significantly higher or lower at different percentages of black officers.
